No. Recording works fully offline. You only need an internet connection when you tap to generate the transcript and AI notes after recording.

AI minutes refer to the amount of audio that JottSmart can transcribe and analyze. Each minute of audio processed counts toward your plan's AI minute allowance. Recording itself is always unlimited — AI minutes only apply when you generate notes.

The free plan includes unlimited recording and 50 minutes of AI transcription and analysis in total (lifetime). Each individual recording is capped at 10 minutes of AI processing. It's a great way to try JottSmart before committing to a paid plan.

You can still record audio without limits. You just won't be able to generate new transcripts or AI notes until you upgrade to a paid plan.

Yes. For Starter, Pro, and Power plans, your AI minute allowance resets at the start of each billing period. Unused minutes do not carry over.

Yes. JottSmart has a "Record without AI" mode that saves your audio without using any AI minutes. You can always go back later and generate notes when you're ready.

JottSmart uses highly accurate speech-to-text transcription that performs well across common recording environments. Accuracy depends on audio quality, background noise, and accents, but handles most real-world conditions well.

JottSmart supports Auto language detection and English. In Auto mode, transcription supports 57 officially listed languages: Afrikaans, Arabic, Armenian, Azerbaijani, Belarusian, Bosnian, Bulgarian, Catalan, Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, Galician, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Icelandic, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Kannada, Kazakh, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Macedonian, Malay, Marathi, Maori, Nepali, Norwegian, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swahili, Swedish, Tagalog, Tamil, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, Vietnamese, and Welsh.

Audio is processed through our secure backend for transcription and is not permanently stored on our servers. Recordings stay on-device only. Your transcripts and notes sync automatically via iCloud so they survive reinstalls and device switches.

Your notes, transcripts, and action items are stored on your device and backed up to your personal iCloud account — we never have access to them. You can delete individual recordings inside the app at any time, or uninstall JottSmart to remove all local data at once.

We collect anonymous usage analytics via Firebase Analytics (e.g., app launches, feature interactions) and Facebook App Events (recording started, plans viewed, subscription purchased — used for ads attribution). Neither service receives a personal account or Apple's Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA). Because there is nothing linking any analytics event to you specifically, individual deletion is technically not possible, even by us.

To stop future analytics collection entirely, go to iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements and turn off Share iPhone Analytics. Questions? Email us at [email protected].

All subscriptions are managed through the App Store. Go to Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your iPhone to cancel at any time. You retain access until the end of your current billing period.

Your notes, transcripts, and action items are backed up to iCloud automatically. If you delete and reinstall JottSmart, your history comes back as soon as you open the app — no manual restore needed.

Audio recordings are stored on-device only and are not included in the iCloud backup, so they will not be recovered after a reinstall. Your notes and transcripts are fully restored even without the original audio.

JottSmart requires iOS 16 or later. It works on iPhone and is optimized for the latest devices.
